“Trust and accept yourself, you are enough, you are different and you are meant to be. Don’t let anyone diminish your Light.”
Marguerite, Intuitive Body Therapist.
The first thing you’ll notice when you meet Marguerite is her warmth, genuine interest and care for you, and her passion for what she does. Marguerite just adores dogs, and spent an hour working with our dog Rock.
She has a great deal of respect for animals. She interacts with them as their own beings, neither inferior to herself, nor deserving of less care. Dogs, she explains, are sentient and mindful beings. They feel pain, grief, loss and stress just like we do. Any past trauma, whether physical or emotional, can sit with them and affect them psychologically, or manifest in physical symptoms, just like with humans. Dogs are also great teachers and friends. “My dogs were responsible for so much of my own personal healing. They hold the mirror up so quietly and gently and love you through it all.”
Marguerite’s session with Rock began with some questions for us, to establish a picture of Rock’s diet, any past trauma, and what he was like as a puppy. We also talked about how he interacts with us now and any areas that we were concerned about.
Marguerite gave us some tips along the way, and we could tell that she has worked with a lot of dogs in her time!
She then put Rock up on her hydraulic table. Rock, who tips the scales at 54kg, wasn’t too enthused about sitting on what was for him a narrow table and being elevated to hip level! But this is where Marguerite’s patience and love for him really illustrated the connection she has with her animal companions. Rock trusted her calm and confident guidance, and in no time he was relaxed and ready.
Marguerite spent the rest of the session examining and treating Rock up on the table. She uses a blend of techniques in her practice, which are guided by her intuition and connection with her client, either animal or person. She listens to and feels into what the body needs.
Today’s initial assessment centered on the neuro-fascial network on either side of the spine, mapping out what was going on in Rock’s body, looking for areas of pain, restriction and tension. With this information she then used a series of fascial releases, easing out the layers of tension. This shifted Rock from reactivity to more appropriate responses indicating release and relief. This allowed some deep cranio-sacral work to be done. She explained what she was doing throughout the assessment, pointing out her findings as she went. She also showed us a few practical techniques that we could use on Rock at home, in order to continue the work that she has started with him today.
It was amazing to see Marguerite work with our dog. We would highly recommend a visit to Marguerite with any dog, but particularly if your dog has experienced any sort of physical or emotional trauma. And, since I admit to feeling a little envious of the neuro-fascial care Rock was receiving, I think our next appointment is going to include a session for one dog and two humans!
Q&A with Marguerite
What services do you offer?
I offer Intuitive Energy Healing for people and animals. I am also a Dog Behaviourist, Trainer, and Canine Therapeutic Bodyworker.
Why is this work so important to you?
I love this work. I am no stranger to pain, and I know how it can diminish joy, function and potential. Coming from this place of understanding, and using the gifts God gave me, I am here to support people and pets to ease pain and discomfort, and assist them to let go, live well and flourish.
Could you tell us about how your interest in intuitive energy healing began?
It is my normal. From a very young age I would gravitate toward anyone, person or animal, who was in pain or had been hurt, and put my hands on them to help ease their pain and suffering… to make them feel better. It has always been an innate response. Also, one of my beautiful dogs was unwell, and I was able to ease her pain and extend her time with us.
What obstacles did you face to get to where you are now and how did you overcome them?
I was strongly discouraged by my parents, and others, who were uncomfortable with what I could do. I always felt different to others, was ridiculed and was forced to put my own beliefs and gifts away, so others wouldn’t feel uncomfortable. As time passed, it became important to be in my truth…to be the me I came here to be, and to honour what was gifted to me. I just made the decision…it was time.
Who should seek as intuitive energy healing as a holistic wellness technique?
Everyone! Two and four legged. Anyone looking for ease, balance, support, change, peace, relaxation, growth.
Could you share a wellbeing tip to the community?
Honour yourself…be kind to you and learn to truly love yourself. You are unique, awesome, powerful. Meditate… get in touch with your true self.
If you could tell your younger self one thing what would it be?
I would say “Trust and accept yourself, you are enough … you are different and you are meant to be. Don’t let anyone diminish your Light.”
